Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about home and business security.
Where is Home Security Centers located?
We are located at 9940 E. Costilla Avenue, Englewood, CO 80112. We serve the entire Denver metro area and the Front Range.
What are your hours?
Our office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm Mountain Time. Our alarm monitoring center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
What types of alarm systems do you offer?
We offer both wireless and hard-wired custom alarm systems for homes and businesses. Our systems include intrusion detection, fire and smoke detection, carbon monoxide monitoring, medical panic buttons, video surveillance, video doorbells, and access control. We use UL listed equipment from trusted manufacturers including Honeywell, Bosch, GRI, and System Sensor.
How do custom security systems differ from an off-the-shelf system?
A custom security system is professionally designed specifically for your home or business. We conduct a thorough on-site evaluation to identify vulnerabilities, entry points, and your specific security concerns. Every sensor, camera, and component is selected and placed for optimal coverage rather than using a generic one-size-fits-all kit.
Why should I choose a custom security system over an off-the-shelf system?
Custom systems provide superior protection because they are tailored to your property. Off-the-shelf systems often leave gaps in coverage, use lower-quality components, and lack professional installation. With a custom system, you get the right equipment in the right locations, professional-grade components that last longer, and expert installation that ensures reliable operation for years to come.
What does it mean that a custom alarm system offers enhanced coverage?
Enhanced coverage means every vulnerable point in your home or business is protected. We evaluate all doors, windows, interior spaces, and potential entry points. Rather than covering only a few standard locations like off-the-shelf systems, we design coverage that eliminates blind spots and ensures complete protection throughout your property.
What are the benefits of professional alarm system installation?
Professional installation ensures your system works reliably from day one. Our technicians have 10 to 35+ years of experience. Wires run straight with 90-degree turns and are always protected to prevent damage. We clean up after ourselves and test every component. Professional installation also means your system qualifies for insurance discounts and meets UL listing requirements for monitored systems.
How does the security system installation process work?
First, we schedule a free on-site consultation to evaluate your property and discuss your security needs. We then design a custom system and provide a detailed quote. Once approved, our experienced technicians install the system, typically completing most residential installations in one day. We thoroughly test every component, walk you through the system operation, and make sure you are completely comfortable before we leave.
How long does the alarm system installation take?
Most residential alarm system installations are completed in one day. Larger homes or businesses with more complex requirements may take longer. We will provide a time estimate during your consultation so you can plan accordingly.
Can you convert my existing alarm system?
Yes. We support over 150 different alarm control panels and can convert most existing systems to our monitoring service. This often saves you the cost of a new installation. We will evaluate your current system, replace or repair any components that need attention, and have you up and running on our monitoring service quickly. You can save up to $276 per year by switching.
Can I integrate my existing smart home devices with your alarm system?
In many cases, yes. We can work with a variety of smart home devices and platforms. During your consultation, let us know what devices you currently have and we will advise you on integration options with your new or converted security system.
Do you also install alarm systems and offer security monitoring for businesses?
Absolutely. We design and install customized commercial security systems including intrusion alarms, fire detection, access control, and video surveillance. Our commercial systems are tailored to the specific needs of your business, whether it is a small retail shop, office building, warehouse, or multi-location operation.
What are the key benefits of installing a commercial security system for my business?
A commercial security system protects your employees, customers, inventory, and property. Benefits include deterring theft and vandalism, providing evidence for insurance claims, monitoring employee access, meeting fire code and insurance requirements, and giving you peace of mind that your business is protected around the clock.
Do you offer 24/7 security system monitoring services?
Yes. Our home security systems are supported by a state-of-the-art UL listed monitoring center 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Monitoring starts at just $24 per month with no long-term contract required. We offer landline, cellular, and internet monitoring options.
What happens if my alarm is triggered?
When your alarm is triggered, our UL listed monitoring center is immediately notified. A trained operator will attempt to reach you at your designated contact numbers. If the alarm cannot be verified as a false alarm, the appropriate emergency services (police, fire, or medical) are dispatched to your location right away. The entire process takes only seconds.
How much does a custom alarm system cost?
The cost of a custom alarm system varies based on the size of your property, the type and number of sensors needed, and any additional features like cameras or access control. We provide free, no-obligation quotes so you know exactly what to expect. Our monitoring starts at $24 per month with no contract.
